WhatsApp Will Tell You Now About Your Friend’s Location & Their Status Changes

According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new feature for iOS and Android users which will allow users to track the location of their friends and also get notified when a friend from your contact list changes his/her status message. WABetainfo, which is dedicated to tracking the latest development in everyone’s favourite messenger has also revealed that these features have already been released for the Beta version of the app.

The Notify A Status Change feature is on the lines of the revamp, that WhatsApp has been working on lately. The previous update for iOS increased the media sharing limits to 30 files and for Android, the last update to the app brought push notifications and a feature to delete a WhatsApp status in 24 hours after it is published. So, we are not mistaken to expect to see a lot more radical changes in the messenger app. Also, in a separate report, it was hinted that WhatsApp may change the interface of its Android app to include a separate tab for Statuses, next to the already existing three tabs of Calls, Chats, and Contacts.

WhatsApp is also working on a location-sharing service, this feature will also be seen first in the Beta app for iOS and Android. WhatsApp Beta versions 2.17.3.28 for iOS and 2.16.399 for Android is shown to have this feature. The said builds allow a user to share his location with the members of a group using a new “Show My Friends” option in a group. The location sharing option allows a user to adjust the timings for which his location will be accessible to other members of the group.

The 2.17.3.28 beta build for iOS is also tipped to let users save images from WhatsApp to a separate folder in the camera roll. The new WhatsApp beta will have a new ‘Contact Us’ button to send a user’s feedback and crash reports directly to the WhatsApp developers. The new app will also notify when a user is running out of battery during a live call.
