How To Video Call On WhatsApp

Voice calling will soon be a thing of the past as Video calling is the new cool right now. Even the big instant messaging giants like WhatsApp realize this and have started testing and rolling out the video calling feature to the early adopters. WhatsApp Inc. has started rolling out the video calling feature to the Beta Testers on the Android platform, although there is still some time left in the release of the stable build.

We tried out the video calling on WhatsApp on Android and it is indeed very cool and interesting. Although it will be too soon to comment on the call quality, but I would have to admit that the feature is pretty neat and what’s more interesting is that it allows using either of the front camera or rear camera of your device while video calling.

The video calling feature isn’t yet available to the regular users and you need to be a Beta tester to avail this feature right away. We tried the video calling feature on WhatsApp Messenger version 2.16.318. You can easily become a Beta tester by registering here. Once you’ve registered, just update your WhatsApp app from the PlayStore and just follow these steps to enjoy video calling on WhatsApp. However, do remember that you can video call right now only with those contacts who happen to be Beta testers and have this latest build. So, just follow these steps and you’re good to go:

STEP 1: Update your WhatsApp Messenger to the latest Beta build as mentioned above.

STEP 2: Open any contact who has the latest Beta build on their device.

STEP 3: Select the telephone icon on the top-right corner.

STEP 4: Now select video call.

STEP 5: That’s it. You’re good to go now. You can choose to use either your front or rear camera and can even mute or send text messages while on a video call.

Please note that the Beta builds often contain various bugs, so install the Beta build only if you’re too eager to use the Video Calling feature on WhatsApp right now and can’t wait for the release of the stable build. Have fun video chatting with your friends and don’t forget to post your comments below.
