Chinese tech giant Xiaomi jumped into the notebook market earlier in July with the Mi Notebook Air. The Mi Notebook Air was launched in two variants: 13.3″ and 12.5″. While the 13.3-incher costs CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 51,400), the 12.5-inch variant costs CNY 3,499 (around Rs. 35,300). Both these notebooks received huge accolades due to their impeccable build, a weight even lighter than the MacBook and great aesthetics. The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air even offered SSDs at this price point which was really unprecedented.
It seems that Xiaomi is all set to launch the successor of the Mi Notebook Air. Xiaomi has posted an invited on its official Weibo page stating that the new Mi Notebook Air will be unveiled on 23rd December, i.e., this Friday. Here’s the poster:
As you can see Xiaomi hasn’t revealed much about the upcoming notebook through this invite, however, we can make some inferences if you look closely into the picture. There’s the China Mobile Logo beside the Mi Logo and you can also see 4G written in the taskbar. It clearly indicates that the upcoming Mi Notebook Air will support 4G LTE. This might mean that the upcoming device will support 4G SIM cards which are really something very innovative.
Apart from this, we expect a slightly upgraded processor, a USB Type-C port and a glass trackpad. I don’t think there would be any upgrade in the SSD memory as it would severely impact the price. Xiaomi has been known for keeping the prices very competitive and we don’t expect any less this time. Apart from this, we would love to see the new notebooks launching in other global markets as well since the first Mi Notebook Air were released in very few limited markets. I can’t wait till Friday for more details to be revealed. We’ll keep you posted, so stay tuned.
