WhatsApp is the lifeline of millions of users on both Android and iOS. It’s even more than that. There is no shame in accepting the fact that we have becoming WhatsApp slaves. We tend to waste too much time on WhatsApp chatting with random friends. We can understand the temptation to check the notification as soon as it pops up but it often turns out to be a huge time-killing machine. Sadly, WhatsApp doesn’t have any inbuilt feature to disable it for a short period of time.
While the Apple users have the liberty to turn off Mobile data specifically for WhatsApp and disable it temporarily, the Android users don’t have even this option. So how to disable this huge distraction temporarily and save your precious time? Android users need not worry as we do have a simple solution which doesn’t involve deleting your account or uninstalling the WhatsApp app.
Just follow these steps to temporarily disable WhatsApp on your Android device:
1. Open Settings Menu on your Android device.
2. Select ‘Apps’ and then scroll down to select ‘WhatsApp‘ either in all Apps or running Apps.
3. Tap on ‘Force Stop‘.
That’s it. You’re done. You won’t receive any message notification from WhatsApp as long as you don’t open the app again or reboot your device. However, do note that once you open the WhatsApp account, it would start running and you’ll have to repeat the entire process again if you wish to disable WhatsApp again in future. Hopefully, this helps. Adios.
