Snapchat (Snap) Spectacles: Everything You Need To Know

Snapchat just made two very surprising announcements. The first one is that it will now be known as Snap Inc. and secondly, it is launching its first hardware product, Spectacles. As the name suggests, Spectacles are sunglasses, but with a unique feature of recording 10-second video snippets which will get saved to your Snapchat Memories.

Snap Inc. has said that it will manufacture Spectacles in a very limited quantity and has priced it for just $130. These sunglasses sport an 115-degree lens and you can start recording a 10-second snippet by just tapping the top left-hand corner of the Spectacles. These sunglasses will come in only one size and three colour variants of black, teal, and coral.

Spectacles transfer the recorded snaps to Android devices via WiFi while it uses Bluetooth connection for iOS devices. Once you start recording, an inward-facing and an outward-facing light appears indicating that recording has begun. You can record for a maximum of 30 seconds in one go. Spectacles work even standalone and don’t require you to carry your smartphone to record snaps. Snap has promised a full day’s juice and you can check the remaining battery by double tapping the outward-facing light. It comes with a dedicated charging case and cable for charging.

However, many other features are yet unknown like whether it’s water and dust-proof or not. We hope to get answers to these questions really soon and wish that Snap’s Spectacles would fare well.
