It goes without saying that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is the hottest topic of discussion in the tech circles these days. Rumours have been floating around ranging from the multi-functionality of Bixby to the removal of the headphone jack. Adding more fuel or shall we say closure to these speculations, our very favourite and highly reliable leakster Evan Blass has come up with new information and new pictures of the upcoming Galaxy S8 and it’s indeed pretty exciting.
Evan has not only shared a couple of pictures of the device but has also shed some light on the specs, pricing and release details of the Galaxy S8. As can be seen in the pics, there is no physical home button on the front and the display is almost bezel-less. The device can be seen clad in an all-metal chassis and the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the rear of the device just beside the camera module. The Samsung Logo can be clearly seen just beneath the camera module.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 will sport a 12MP primary camera and an 8MP secondary front camera, both having an aperture of f/1.7. The primary camera will feature a feature a visual search feature which will provide various search options on the basis of what is photographed. Contradicting previous rumours, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack present just beside the speaker grills at the bottom of the device along with a USB Type-C port. A physical button can be seen on the right edge of the device which in all probability seems to be the much-rumoured Bixby assistant button. Bixby will reportedly be far more enhanced than it’s competitors and understand ‘multi-part instructions’.
According to Mr Blass, the Galaxy S8 will come in two variants; a 5.8-incher and a 6.2-incher. Both the devices will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC or a 10nm Samsung’s Exynos processor depending upon the region coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 256GB). The Galaxy S8 will be 11 percent faster than its predecessor. With battery capacities of 3000mAh and 3500mAh, the Galaxy S8 will provide up to 20 percent more battery life than the Galaxy S7. The device will also sport the Iris scanner and a pressure-sensitive display technology.
As for the pricing is concerned, the Galaxy S8 (5.8-inch) will carry a price tag of around EUR 799 (approx Rs. 58,100), while the 6.2-inch variant will be priced EUR 899 (approx Rs. 65,400). The Galaxy S8 is expected to be unveiled on March 29 at an event in New York and it will go sale starting April 21.
