The wait is finally over. Samsung officially lifted the veil from the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ yesterday. The release of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ finally put a rest all the wild speculations that had been doing rounds in the tech circle for a while now. The much-hyped Bixby finally made its debut. However, it remains to be seen how it fares against its competitors like the Google Assistant, Siri, Microsoft Cortana or Amazon’s Alexa. Samsung has even bundled many pre-installed apps which will work with the virtual voice assistant Bixby. The devices have been launched in Orchid Grey, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue, Midnight Black, and Maple Gold colours and will hit the store shelves on April 21.
DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics said, “The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ usher in a new era of smartphone design and fantastic new services, opening up new ways to experience the world, The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are our testament to regaining your trust by redefining what’s possible in safety and marks a new milestone in Samsung’s smartphone legacy.”

While the US market will receive the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 variant, most other international markets including India will get the Exynos 8895 variant. The Infinity displays on these devices are protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and have been certified by the UHD Alliance as Mobile HDR Premium. So be ready for some stunning visuals. As far as the looks go, the device looks nothing short of stunning and premium. The S8 and S8+ weigh 155 grams and 173 grams respectively and thus aren’t definitely on the bulkier side.
Samsung has also brought in the new Samsung DeX which will allow users to use their device as a computer by docking to a mouse, keyboard and monitor. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ sport USB Type-C, NFC among other connectivity options. Samsung is also bundling earphones tuned by AKG by Harman along with these smartphones to provide users with a great music experience.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the Galaxy S8 will carry a price tag of around $720 (roughly Rs. 46,700), while its bigger sibling will cost around $850 (roughly Rs. 55,200). This prices aren’t official and will vary with the different carriers.
