Mukesh Ambani took the whole country by storm this Thursday by announcing the Reliance Jio plans. Thanks to the outrageously low tariffs, Reliance Jio is currently on everyone’s lips. Reliance Jio is offering 4G data at unbelievably low prices which are almost 1/5th of what its competitors are offering.
However, the major highlight of Thursday’s announcement was that Jio won’t charge a penny for voice calls. Yes, you read correctly as all the voice calls (Local+STD) and SMSes to any network would be absolutely free on Reliance Jio. There would be no roaming charges or blackout days. Reliance announced the Jio tariff rates which are indeed so lucrative that almost everyone is currently vying for a Reliance Jio SIM and the long queues before the Reliance Digital Stores bear a testimony to this fact. Not only this, commencing 5th September, Reliance is offering the Jio services including free unlimited internet and voice calls for everyone for absolutely free until December 2016 under the ‘Jio Welcome Offer’.
This is high time that you get yourself a Reliance Jio SIM for enjoying all the amazing perks currently being offered by it. If you’re worrying that you would lose your old number and thus are reluctant, then you don’t need to worry anymore. You can port to Reliance Jio from your current telecom operator by availing the nation-wide MNP scheme.
Here’s the method,
How you can use MNP to port your current SIM to Reliance Jio.
STEP 1: Send Text Message ‘PORT’ to 1900 from your current SIM card which you wish to port.
STEP 2: You’ll soon receive a Unique Porting Code from your current telecom carrier with a validity of 15 days.
STEP 3: Visit the Reliance Digital Stores and while filling up the Customer Application Form, fill in this Unique Porting Code in the appropriate column. Submit this form with all the necessary documents and photographs.
STEP 4: Reliance Store will give you a Reliance Jio SIM which would be inactive at first.
STEP 5: Don’t take out your current SIM yet and keep using it till it becomes inactive as the Reliance Jio SIM usually takes a couple of days to get activated.
STEP 6: When your current SIM starts showing “No Service”, insert the Reliance Jio SIM.
STEP 7: Do the tele-verification and you’ll have a fully functioning Reliance Jio SIM with your old number.
Please note that you can avail MNP only once in six months and you’ll be charged a minimal sum of Rs.19. MNP is your right and no telecom carrier can prevent you or stop you to migrating to any other network of your choice. So go ahead and grab your Jio SIM once it is made available starting 5th September while retaining your old number.
