Ola Share Fares Slashed: Get A Ride For Just Rs.3/km

There is some great news for the Ola users who believe in carpooling and often avail Ola’s Share feature. Ola Share is a carpooling scheme launched by Ola in which users can choose to share their ride with other fellow passengers who also happen to a have the same destination. It is similar to the Uber Pool.

Carpooling is not only more cost-effective for a passenger, but it is even more eco-friendly resulting in far lower carbon emissions. To encourage users to opt for the Ola Share, Ola has reduced the fares of its ‘Share’ rides by up to 45 percent. The fares have become as low as Rs.3/km in few cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Ola has also decided to expand Ola Share to three more new cities making Ola Share operational in three cities. Chandigarh, Jaipur and Ahmedabad are the new entries in this list of cities where Ola is offering its car pooling service. The cities in which this service is already available includes Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru.

Ola CMO Raghuvesh Sarup issued a statement saying, “Shared mobility is one of the key focus areas for Ola as it enables far-reaching benefits like reduced pollution and congestion-free roads. We are constantly working to upgrade this experience for users as well as the driver-partners. This helps Ola Share in becoming the most eco-friendly and pocket-friendly ride…With immense demand for the service and improved matching rate, we have been able to bring down fares to as low as Rs. 3 per km.”

Ola has also promised to optimise its same route sharing technology and minimise the on-route deviation time so that users don’t have to take wait longer cause of long diversions taken to drop their fellow passengers at their destinations. Needless to say, carpooling has always been both a pocket-friendly and eco-friendly mode of transportation and I hope that famous taxi aggregators like Ola and Uber would very soon expand their carpooling service to other major cities as well.
