Moto M, The first all-metal smartphone from Motorola is scheduled to be launched today in the Indian smartphone market. Motorola, which is now owned by Lenovo has continuously been teasing its features and specification for the past few months. Lenovo has already launched Moto M in other major Asian markets like China, and it’s time, we Indians will be finally able to get our hands on this much-awaited smartphone.
This sleek, all-metal body smartphone was first launched in China at a price of CNY 1,999 (approx. INR 19,600) in gold and silver colour options. Lenovo has planned to sell this smartphone in India through online platform exclusively via Flipkart. A tweet from Flipkart yesterday confirmed its launch on 14th December at 23:59 pm.
To all those who have not yet heard of this yet another engineering masterpiece from Motorola, Moto M is a mid-range smartphone, which we are expecting to be priced somewhere around Rs. 16,000 for the 32GB variant and Rs.18,000 for the 64GB variant. The device sports a 5.5-inch Full-HD Super AMOLED display with a full metal body with splash-proof design, first ever from Motorola, all fitted inside a 151.35×75.35×7.85mm frame.
Moto M runs on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) out-of-the-box . On the hardware front, it is powered by an octa-core 2.2 GHz MediaTek Helio P15 CPU assisted with an equally good Mali-T860 MP2 GPU. When it comes to storage, Moto M has got 32 GB of internal storage to offer along with two, 3 GB and 4 GB RAM options. The storage can be expanded up to 128 GB through a microSD.
Another cool feature that can be a game changer for Lenovo and Motorola with Moto M is its camera, the primary camera sports a 16MP lens with dual-toned LED flash, PDA, 1µm pixel size, full HD video recording, geo-tagging, touch to focus, face detection and Auto-HDR. On the front Moto M houses an 8MP camera. Motorola has also included a fingerprint sensor for an added level of security, however, unlike earlier Moto phones, Moto M will have its fingerprint sensor on its back. Moto M also supports Voice over LTE (VOLTE), so it’s a thumbs up for all Jio fans out there. Other connectivity features include dual sim 4G, GPS capability, Bluetooth, NFC, USB Type-C among other things. Moto M is fuelled by a rather large 3050 mAh battery that also supports fast charging.
Overall the Moto M seems to be a very promising device and sports some really cool specs that too at an amazing price. I would definitely suggest it to anyone looking for a great device in the sub-20k range.
