Not even a few months have passed since the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and people are already eagerly waiting for the next iPhone. While the next iPhone which is supposed to release somewhere during mid-2017 is the iPhone 7s, but the iPhone which is really making some noise in the tech circles right now is the iPhone 8.
Apple will reportedly launch two variants of the iPhone 7s this fall. While the iPhone 7s will sport a 4.7-inch LCD display, the iPhone 7s Plus, on the other hand, will be a 5.5-incher. However, it isn’t the upcoming iPhone 7s which is making news right now, but instead, it is the iPhone 8.
A report has emerged which places the cost of the iPhone 8 even north of $1000 (approx. 68,000 INR). The reason for such a hefty price tag is being attributed to Apple’s shift from LCD to OLED for the iPhone 8. OLED is far more expensive than LCD and Apple’s major rivals like Samsung have already shifted to OLED. So it is but obvious that Apple will soon have to jump the boat. Further, the report states that instead of being called the iPhone 8, the device will be called iPhone X to commemorate Apple’s 10-year anniversary.
The iPhone 8 or shall we say the iPhone X will sport a 5.8-inch OLED display with almost no bezels on the front. Apple will be saying goodbye to the physical buttons once and for all with the iPhone 8 (iPhone X) and even the physical home button or the Touch ID sensor will be integrated into the display. The battery will be much larger than its predecessors.
The report further adds that the dual rear camera setup of the iPhone 7 Plus will be retained. It is also speculated that Apple has been working with Lumentum on a unique 3D-sensing technology which might lead to better 3D Touch and improved facial recognition providing additional security to the device. The iPhone 8 will have an all-glass rear and the frames will be made up of stainless steel instead of Aluminium to cut down costs.
These are very early rumours so please take this with a pinch of salt as there is no way for us to verify it right now. Further, Apple often brings changes to its models even during mid-production. So a word of caution is advised.
