How To Enable Two-Step Verification On WhatsApp For Extra Security

WhatsApp is undoubtedly one of the best instant messaging apps out there. It has over a billion users spread across all platforms be it Android, Windows or iOS. The security and privacy of its users have always been a huge concern and a priority for WhatsApp and it was one of the first instant messaging apps to offer end-to-end encryption to its users and now it is the two-step verification.

To further fortify the security, WhatsApp has added a new layer of security in the form of two-step verification. The new two-step verification is optional at this moment and is disabled by default. But we would highly recommend our users to activate it if they wish to stay future-proof. The two-step verification uses a six-digit passcode which is used in future if you try to verify your phone number.

This function is still optional, but I would recommend you to enable it right now. If you’re wondering how to enable two-step verification on your device, you need not worry. It’s very simple and can be done in just a few very easy to follow steps.

So just follow these steps to enable two-step verification on your Android smartphone or iPhone or your Windows device:

Step 1: Update your WhatsApp to the latest version.

Step 2: Open WhatsApp and now open settings.

Step 3: Now select ‘Account‘.

Step 4: Select ‘two-step verification‘ and choose ‘Enable’ when prompted to do so.

Step 5: Once you choose to enable, you’ll be asked to provide a six-digit passcode.

Step 6: You’ll be asked once again to provide the passcode.

Step 7: Now provide your email id. Please be very careful while providing the email id as it will be your source of resetting the passcode in future if you wish.
