WhatsApp Will Very Soon Allow Editing And Revoking Already Sent Messages

WhatsApp’s iPhone beta version has brought in some very necessary changes to the world’s most popular messenger. And if all goes well with the iPhone beta version, then we might soon see the same features in Android smartphones as well. The iPhone beta WhatsApp is allowing its users to edit and revoke an already sent message, which means no more embarrassing drunk messages to your ex. The news was first reported by @WABetaInfo on twitter.

As of now, WhatsApp allows deleting a message but the message vanishes only from the sender’s side and continues to exist in the recipient’s phone. The feature is said to be disabled by default which means iPhone users are required to activate it manually to avail this feature on their beta WhatsApp. Users can edit or revoke a message by long pressing a sent message, which will open a small bubble with the two options. Selecting edit option will allow the sender to edit the whole body and after that, the receiver will receive only the modified or edited message. Selecting revoke option will delete the whole message as if it never existed.

However, there’s a small catch. The revoke option will work only if the recipient has not yet seen the message. So, a user needs to act fast to edit or delete an embarrassing message. There is no official statement from the WhatsApp as regards when the editing and the revoking feature will be made available to Android users.

The same beta version is also said to have started supporting previews of .zip and .rar files. Earlier, a few weeks back WhatsApp started supporting streaming of videos as opposed to waiting for them to download and it also started supporting GIF animations.
