There is a way to backup and then restore SMS messages and iMessages by some tools. This can come in handy when you bought a new iPhone and do not want to lose the message. The backup and recovery we need a Mac, and iTunes program named iBackupBot. The program can be downloaded for free on the site .

Step by step guide to backup your sms and imessages and then retrieve back :
Step 1: Before you run the downloaded program, connect the iPhone to your Mac and launch iTunes. In iTunes will display a summary. We have shown little below the table backups. In the Automatically backup, select My Computer and make sure that we have checked the option Encrypt iPhone backup. Then press back up .
Step 2: After the backup start the application and select iBackupBot in the left column of the ” User information Manager “. and select the tab Messages . Then click on Import and select our last backup.
Backups > select your backup > user information > messages > Import
Step 3: The messages that were backed up, click on OK and it will import them into the program iBackupBot. Close the iBackupBot.
Step 4: Now we have to turn on iTunes and click Restore from backup, select the same backup that we created and click on restore. Your iPhone will be restored and will contain text messages that are merged through iBackupBot.
