Google Nexus 6 To Finally Receive The Android 7.1.1 Nougat Update

It’s good to see Google taking care of the abandoned Nexus series, after the launch of new Pixel series smartphones by Google everyone was almost sure that Nexus devices won’t see any further upgrade from Google. But, with Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade for Google Nexus 6 it became sure that Google won’t leave its early customers disappointed. Google has recently announced that Nexus 6 will receive the next update to Android 7.0 very soon in January 2017.

Nexus 6 which was released in November 2014, is currently the oldest device to receive the official go for Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. It was rumored to receive the Android Nougat 7.1.1 update at the end of December but we never heard anything regarding why it was delayed.

Google has said that they delayed the scheduled Android 7.1.1 update for Nexus 6 because of a bug specific to the said model. Now, the bug has been fixed and Google will soon roll out an over-the-air update for the Google nexus 6 somewhere in the January of the coming year.

Notably, Android Nougat 7.1.1 will be a significant update for Nexus 6 as it is bringing new features which were yet missing back to everyone’s favorite Nexus phone, features like Night Light, improved touch response, seamless A/B updates, daydream VR mode, manual storage manager and much more. Also, some developer features will be introduced to the device with the 7.1.1 update, for example, circular app icons, keyboard images, fingerprint gestures for notification shutter, multi-endpoint call, and various MNO requirements.
