Flipkart Offering The OnePlus 3 At Just Rs.18,999

OnePlus 3

Flipkart Offering The OnePlus 3 At Just Rs.18,999

You must have been surprised to read the heading of this article and that too because of two reasons. Firstly, OnePlus 3 carries a price tag of Rs.27,999 and secondly it is an Amazon exclusive and is not sold on Flipkart. Well, you aren’t the only one as even the OnePlus CEO Carl Pei was surprised to read this.

Cutting to the chase, Flipkart on Thursday put on a huge banner on its website offering the OnePlus 3 smartphones for just below Rs.20,000. Flipkart said that it will be offering the OnePlus 3 for as low as Rs. 18,999, which happens to be Rs.9,000 cheaper than the current official price of the device on the Amazon India website. Amazon is the exclusive seller of OnePlus devices in India and thus this is very surprising. The sale was supposed to commence at 4 pm on 18 December.

This news took everyone by surprise including the OnePlus Co-Founder and CEO Carl Pei who took to Twitter and asked Flipkart Co-Founder Sachin Bansal, “What’s this? We’re exclusive with Amazon.”

In reply to this, Mr Bansal didn’t give a satisfactory reply. Flipkart, however, just vaguely answered that it is a marketplace which allows the sellers to meet their customers across the country and the prices or the discounts offered are decided by the sellers and not Flipkart. This makes this abundantly clear that these OnePlus 3 devices will be sold by third-party sellers and most probably won’t carry any official warranty.

OnePlus has even issued a statement saying,  “We have an exclusive partnership with Amazon in India. We advise customers to purchase OnePlus products only through official channels as we cannot guarantee the authenticity of the products sold elsewhere.”

Well, if you’re looking up to grab the OnePlus 3 from Flipkart at a phenomenal price, please go ahead, but do remember this that your device won’t be from an official merchant and hence might not carry an official warranty. However, this doesn’t mean that the product would be duplicate or defective. To measure the pros and cons and decide accordingly.
