Airtel Now Offering 4G Data For Less Than Rs.50 per GB

Airtel Now Offering 4G Data For Less Than Rs.50 per GB

It is no big secret that Reliance Jio has triggered a price war in India and all the major telcos have been trying their best to retain their customer base from getting poached by Jio. India’s biggest telecom operator Airtel has just rolled out a new 4G internet plan in the Delhi circle to match the competition posed by Reliance Jio.

Airtel has unveiled a ‘special 4G data pack that offers free data for 90 days‘ in the Delhi circle. This new prepaid pack has been priced Rs. 1,495 for the existing Airtel customers and Rs. 1,494 for the new users. However, there is a fair usage policy of up to 30 GB and the validity of this pack is for 90 days. Post consumption of 30GB data, speeds will be capped.

Commenting on the launch, Ajai Puri, Director, Operations (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel said, “At Airtel, we are focused on providing great value to customers. Customers with 4G handsets generally consume large amounts of data and this proposition is specifically aimed at them. With this pack these customers can stay online round the clock without having to worry about exhausting their data limits or going for frequent recharges.”

Although this pack is currently only available for the Airtel users of the Delhi region, but Airtel has promised to soon make it available in other regions too. If we analyse this pack, it is indeed very good as you’re getting 1GB of 4G data for less than Rs.50 and the validity period is also very good. When compared to Jio which will be offering 20GB of data for Rs. 1,499 for a period of just 28 days next year onwards, this pack of Airtel clearly stands out as the winner.

However, it must be remembered that Reliance Jio is also offering free calls, SMSes and other premium services at this price. And also until the time Jio Welcome or Preview offer continues, these packs would hardly make a dent into the sales of Jio SIM. This price war is expected to continue even further and as customers both you and I must feel happy about it.
