H8sn0w, has released the first beta software “sn0wbreeze”, which is fully compatible to work with Windows 7/Vista and XP machines. Sn0wbreeze is a tool which allows you to create custom firmware for you iPhone and iPod Touch. You can download this tool @ official website.

The current version of Sn0wbreeze supports iPhone 2G/3G/3GS(non MC) and iPod touch 1G and 2G (non MC). Follow the step by step guide posted below to jailbreak your iPhone and iPod touch with Sn0wbreeze.

Guide to Jailbreak With Sn0wbreeze: ( 8 simple steps )

Pre Requirements :

Download iTunes 9.0.2
Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 firmware for your iDevice

iPhone 3.1.2 download (iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 241 MB)

iPhone 3G 3.1.2 download (iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 242 MB)

iPhone 3GS 3.1 download (iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw, 306 MB)

Download Sn0wbreeze (Windows only)
Download .NET Framework 3.5 (required to run Sn0wbreeze)

How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 with Sn0wBreeze

Step 1 : Make sure you’ve installed the latest version of iTunes. Open the iTunes and backup your iPhone data.

Step 2 :Run the Sn0wBreeze and hit next button.

Step 3 : choose Simple Mode. We cannot get Expert Mode work properly because it’s still in beta. So only Simple Mode is available.
Click the Next Arrow button.

Step 4 : Sn0wBreeze will ask for the IPSW file for your iDevice. Click on the Browse button and navigate to the folder where you put your iPhone OS 3.1.2 IPSW file and choose the downloaded firmware 3.1.2.

Sn0wBreeze will verify your selected firmware 3.1.2 file.
Hit Next.

Step 5 : On the next screen, Sn0wBreeze will ask you: Do you want to activate your iPhone?

Hit Yes button for hacktivation (for unofficial carriers)
Hit No if you want to use official carrier (AT&T etc).

Step 6 : Hit the Start button. SnowBreeze will start building custom firmware for your iPhone that we will use later to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.2.

Step 7 : Once the custom IPSW file building process is complete, now it’s time to restore your iPhone with that custom firmware that you just built using Sn0wBreeze.

Connect your iPhone to iTunes and select your iPhone from the left navigation pane in iTunes. Hold Down the SHIFT key on your keyboard and hit the Restore button (SHIFT + Restore)

Step 8 : Now the iTunes will ask for the IPSW firmware file.
Browse to the custom firmware that you built using Sn0wBreeze and select it.

iTunes will Restore your iPhone with custom iPhone OS 3.1.2 created with Sn0wBreeze. Once the iTunes is done with the restore process, your iPhone will restart automatically.

Voila! you’ve a fully jailbroken iPhone with OS 3.1.2.

How-To: Jailbreak & Unlock iPhone 3G 3.1 OS with Ultrasn0w

Just saw in the recent post about the latest Pwnage Tool 3.1 which can jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3G ( not iPhone 3GS ).

iPhone Dev team has officially released PwnageTool 3.1 first jailbreak and unlock tool for OS 3.1. You can download PwnageTool 3.1 and start jailbreaking iPhone 3G 3.1, iPhone 2G & iPod Touch 1G on Mac OS X. Unfortunately Windows users need to wait for some more time as Redsn0w for Windows is yet to be released.

I have come up with a complete quide to jailbreak & Unlock iPhone 3G 3.1, once you have jailbreaked iPhone 3G 3.1 you can unlock it with Ultrasn0w and use any carrier of your choice.

Tools Required

1. Download iTunes 9

2. Download Original iPhone 3G 3.1 Firmware Link : (iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144_Restore.ipsw)

3. PwnageTool 3.1

How To Jailbreak iPhone 3G 3.1 with PwnageTool 3.1

1. Firmware downloaded in Tools sections save it on your computer (Preferably create a folder Pwnage and save in that folder this is for simplicity)

2. Download PwnageTool 3.1 and save it on desktop in “Technohacker” folder.

3. Keep your iPhone connected to your computer.

4. Double click PwnageTool 3.1 to mount it and create shortcut of PwnageTool in pwnage folder.

5. Now Launch PwnageTool and click ok on warring message “PwnageTool is a free tool”

6. Select Expert Mode from Top left menu.

7. Now select Device i.e iPod Touch , iPhone and click on Blue arrow icon to continue.

Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 3G 3.1

8. PwnageTool will auto detect your Firmware 3.1 IPWS file downloaded in step 1, if not then click browse and select proper file.

9. Select the apps you want to install from given menu, at least cydia installer and click on build to start custom firmware building process.

Note : you can personalize the process by selecting general in that there is option of choosing partition space

10. Now select location to save custom IPWS file created by PwnageTool.

11. PwnageTool 3.1 may take 10-15 min to complete Custom iPhone 3G 3.1 IPSW file creation.

12. Enter Admin password.

13. PwnageTool 3.1 will display a prompt “has your iPhone 3G been pwned before?” If you are unsure, click no.

14. Turnoff your iPhone as per directions keep it connected.

15. This step is important for you, Do follow PwnageTool instruction properly.

You will be asked to press following key sequences

- Hold the Home button for 5 seconds,
- Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds,
- Then release the Power button while continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode

16. A message will be displayed when your iPhone enters in DFU mode.

17. Now launch iTunes and restore your iPhone with your custom firmware bundle by holding the “Alt/Option” button and clicking “restore”.

18. Browse and Select the custom IPSW file you created (iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144_Custom_Restore.ipsw) and click “open”.

19. iTunes 9 will restore your iPhone, Process may take 10-15 minutes.

20 Your iPhone 3G 3.1 will reboot automatically

21. That’s it, if you have followed above steps properly then you will have your iPhone 3G 3.1 jailbreaked.

How to Unlock iPhone 3G 3.1 OS with Ultrasn0w

1. You must install Cydia when you jailbreak iPhone 3G 3.1

2. Launch Cydia/ Icy

3. Select Manage Tab at the bottom of screen and go to Sources

4. Press edit button and Add following Repo URL

5. Once the source has been added press the large Return to Cydia button.

6. Go to repo666.ultrasn0w.com from the list of user entered sources and select Ultrasn0w from list

7. Click on Install Button and confirm the installation and wait for installation to complete

8. Now press the Home button then power off and power on the iPhone. You do this by holding down the power button for 3 seconds then moving the power slider that appears to the right. Press the power button again to turn on the phone.

9. That’s it, Now insert SIM card of your choice

Pwnage Tool 3.1: iPhone OS 3.1 Jailbreak, Unlock Released

Good news from iPhone-Dev team has released new version of Pwnage Tool 3.1 which can jailbreak and unlock iPhone OS 3.1 but its only for Mac OS X users. The Pwnage Tool will apply of first generation iPhone, iPhone 3G and first generation iPod Touch.

iPhone-Dev Team has said that currently the Pwnage Tool 3.1 won’t work or support iPhone 3GS and second gen iPod Touch and third gen iPod Touch.

Pwnage Tool 3.1

The redsn0w tool for Windows and Mac OS X will be released some time in the near future. Hence, the cat and mouse game between Apple and iPhone Dev team continues.
Note: Using Jailbreak, unlock tools will void Apple’s warranty for the respective device and may render the device unusable.

The iPhone dev team has published the following details on their blog about jailbreaking iPhone OS 3.1:

GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should only upgrade to 3.1 with a PwnageTool created .ipsw. – Stay away from Apple’s direct updates as described here please get up to speed on the whole subject by reading the information contained in these posts.

If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.1 unlock works with this PwnageTool release. iPhone 3G users upgrading to 3.1 will need to continue using ultrasn0w with a PwnageTool created 3.1 .ipsw

Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.

Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.

At the bottom of this post are the bittorrent files for the 3.1 capable version of PwnageTool.

This app is suitable for the recent 3.1 release.

This version of PwnageTool will NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.

PwnageTool WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch (1st Generation) and the iPhone 3G.

Users (iPhone and iPhone 3G) who have ultrasn0w on their phones should first create a custom .ipsw file using Pwnage Tool and then upgrade their devices with the new custom .ipsw file. The iPhone 3G users will need to continue using ultrasn0w with Pwnage Tool created .ipsw in order to apply their phone with iPhone OS 3.1 update. First generation iPod Touch users will get to use firmware 3.1.1 update for creating a custom .ipsw with Pwnage Tool.

Apple Announces New iPod Touch, classic nano, & shuffle

Steve announced iPhone OS 3.1 with iTunes 9, here’s some more stuff that Apple has announced, iPod Touch, Nano, iPod Shuffle. There were rumors about the new iPod touch with a camera, but it was been announced that iPod Touch will be shipped without Camera ( hmm bad luck better luck )

Here’s good news for iPod Touch ( iPhone without phone ), its more 50 % faster than the older one and more cheaper ( good in recession) , so any one who is in US can buy Apple iPod touch (store link) on store.

iPod Touch :

The 8GB iPod Touch will have the same processor as the current model, whilst the 32GB version will be updated to the faster version.

Pricing has been reduced, as reported earlier with the 8GB iPod Touch will retail for $199, whilst the 16GB version will retail for $299 and the 32GB version will retail for $399.

Steve Jobs Announces iTunes 9 and iPhone OS 3.1

We Indians are still waiting for latest iPhone 3GS, there Apple has released a new version of iPhone OS, yesterday it was launched and certainly didn’t expect it to be announced by Steve Jobs, who appeared on stage at apple special event.

The iPhone OS 3.1 will be available from today as a free download

from iTunes, some of the new features include is the rumored pre-cut ringtones, plus a genius function, that will recommend apps to you based on ones you already have on your iPhone.

Steve also announced the newer version of iTunes, ie iTunes 9 which will feature Genius mixes, here’s what Steve said about the new Genius Mixes feature

“Imagine a genius DJ that plays endless mixes of songs from your library that go great together. You just click on one of the mixes, and start playing it — and it will go on and on and on. It’s like a great radio station.”

Another new feature will be improved syncing, which lets you sync everything by artist now as well as albums, plus you will also be able to arrange you iPod or iPhones home screen through iTunes.

How-To Fix Cydia Crashing On iPhone 3.0 ?

Cydia is most important and most used application used mainly by jailbroken users. By Cydia you can install any repositories so its very useful. It is hosted at Saurik’s apptapp.saurik.com. you can also install this app via many other repositories ( update ).

When i first installed 3.0 OS on my iPhone 2G, while using Cydia i was unable to refresh and update the inbuilt apps. I wanted to download and install some apps, but failed. Soon after i googled and found we should not install cydia and ice both while jailbreaking. Then again updated 3.0 OS and did a jailbreak with only Cydia, it was a success.

But many users still are having problems while installing, updating via cydia, it crashes many times, and also If you have downloaded and installed Cydia via thebiggboss repo on july 18 then you are in the list of those unfortunate users facing repetitive cydia crash on iPhone and iTouch 3.0.

For 10 minutes on July 18th a corrupted packages file was posted and If you loaded Cydia during that 10 minute period, your packages file will be corrupted. This subsequently causes Cydia to crash each time you use it. Here is fix for iPhone & iPod Touch cydia crashing issue.

Fixing Cydia Installer :

For Windows Users :-

1. Download Clear Cydia List Cache tool (.Net Framework required)

2. Unzip files from above downloaded zip file

3. Run ClearCydiaListCache.exe from above unzipped folder and connect your device

4. Click on button “connect your device and click here” on ClearCydiaListCache.exe

5. Now wait for successful message

For Mac Users :-

1. Connect & ssh to your iPhone and iPod Touch

2. Now go to /private/var/lib/apt/lists

3. Delete all the files in /root/private/var/lib/apt/lists/ except for the partial subfolder.

Do not delete Partial folder

GeoHot Discovers Jailbreak for iPhone 3GS in 5 Days

19 year old Hacker George Hotz better know as GeoHot jailbreaks iPhone 3GS in 5 days of the launch, his skills are amazing. He may have found a hole in the iPhone 3GS boot sequence, which will allow hackers to unlock the device. Details of this exploit is been shown at Hotz blog. I don’t know much about the thing but any one who knows better can comment of this

This screenshot appears to show a custom command inserted into the iPhone’s iBoot, implying that signature checks had been bypassed, according to one explanation in the comments of the post. If so, it’s the first step in jailbreaking the device. This should be a start for the iPhone 3GS (N88AP) jailbreak which has been dubbed purplera1n

George was a team member of famous iPhone Dev-team, due to some reasons ( might be some leak in codes ) he is out of it, read about him that he was the first to discover the exploit in 1.0.2 firmware. He is currently working for search giant Google.

Geohot has already activated purplera1n.com but is hosting nothing but an image as of now. The really good news is that if the jailbreak is successful the UltraSn0w unlock should be compatible with the iPhone 3GS as well.

UltraSn0w Unlock Tool For iPhone 3G is Out !

Ultrasn0w a latest iPhone unlocking tool from iPhone Dev-team is released. It unlocks the original iPhone as well but not the iPhone 3GS. So be patient it can be out in a month.

Ultrasn0w unlock any firmware’s downwards from 3.0. You can use Airtel, BSNL or any other GSM network in India. I put some steps how you can unlock you iPhone 3G

1. First you download iPhone 3G 3.0 OS from the apple

Download iPhone 3G Firmware 3.0

2. Secondly update iPhone 3G without any worries, jailbreak via Pwnage 3.0 tool or via redsn0w tool .. some links from where you can download these tools

Pwnage 3.0 for Mac OS:

3. After jailbreak you can add Ultrasn0w from Cydia.

Add & Enter repo666.ultrasn0w.com URL as a repository URL and update, then install Ultrasn0w from the list of software’s ..

4. After installing Ultrasn0w, reboot you iPhone 3G.. its ready for different sim. Test it !
